Final Week of Research 5301

Action Research is a very effective tool that helps educators find answers to questions that arise in their field. This course was very instrumental in my knowledge of action research. Before this course I was vaguely familiar with what action research entailed. Every aspect of this course played an important role in me gaining knowledge about action research. The lectures provided information on what to expect and what to look for while conducting research. The interviews with the administrators gave insight on the types of questions or problems that arise in the field of education. It also helped me realize that these are the types of problems or questions that I will have to face as an administrator. I have to be knowledgeable and be prepared to face these types of situations. There is no substitute for preparation and execution. The readings in this course were also very insightful. They helped me get clarifications on some of the issues that I had questions on and eliminated some doubts. The examples that were given were pertinent to the concepts that were being addressed. I will definitely add the two text books in my personal library. I am sure they will come in handy in the future. The course assignments helped me tremendously. They helped me apply my knowledge I learned into practice. That was an excellent way to get me prepared. It allowed me to explore the most important aspects of action research. The assignments motivated me to extend action research practices not only in my pursuit of my graduate degree but also in my professional development. Interacting with my classmates during the weekly discussions was also very beneficial. We were able to share findings and doubts that we had. Sharing with classmates also helped to motivate each other. The only problem I encountered was during the blog assignments. Although this is an excellent concept not many of the classmates participated in writing feedback on the blogs. All in all, taking this course helped me to realize the importance and appreciate action research.
